On-site Accommodation

Accommodation is available on site exclusively through Contingency from midday Monday 20th until 10am Monday 27th or you can use one of the many hotels and guesthouses Hunstanton has on offer.

Contingency takes place at Searles Leisure Resort, on the Norfolk coast beside the Victorian seaside town of Hunstanton – ‘Sunny Hunny’! Searles has a great range of holiday lodges, holiday cabins and holiday homes, all fully equipped with modern appliances for everything from home entertainment to home cooking. All the self-catering accommodation is centrally heated and double-glazed too, so you can enjoy the convention no matter what the weather. Each unit includes parking for at least two cars. Some of the accommodation welcomes pets and there are a number of lodges with additional features to make them suitable for those with additional access requirements.

But you don’t have to stay on site to attend the convention, just buy tickets for any games you play.

Food and Towels

For provisions - there is a Tesco supermarket immediately outside the site. Alternatively, Tesco will deliver to the accommodation if you prefer to order online.  On Sunday there will be a box in Reception where you can leave unused food that you don’t want to take home – this will be delivered to a local food bank. Food will also be available in the restaurants and to take away on site. If you would like to book half board or breakfasts in advance see https://www.searles.co.uk/food-and-drink/meal-plans or contact Searles on 01485 534211. You can book for as many or as few days as you wish.

There will be a supply of towels and dish washing materials available from the Desk which you may have in return for a donation to the charities – after the event any that are returned will be donated to a homeless shelter.

Trade stands, Bring’n’Buy, Raffle and Tombola

In the Sundowners Lounge you will find the admin desk for ConTingency, the bring and buy, the trade stalls and many of the games. The admin desk is also where you can buy raffle tickets for a chance to win from a staggering selection of prizes. The raffle will be drawn on Sunday at 2:30pm in the Sundowner lounge. New for 2020 is a tombola where you can win prizes instantly and we are adding a ‘make and sell’ section to the bring and buy – this will work on the same basis as the bring and buy (http://www.con-tingency.uk/bring-and-buy/) but is for things made by those attending.

Games

There are three game sessions each day. Sessions run 9am–1pm, 2pm–6pm and 7:30–11:30pm. You’ll need to buy a game ticket from the admin desk for each session you play. Tickets cost £3 each.

We welcome games of all types at ConTingency. Sign-ups sheets are usually posted 24 hours before the game will be run. We also use Warhorn for advance bookings at the GM’s discretion. Pathfinder and Starfinder games will be repoprted as event number PFS 2,698,409.

ConTingency officially starts on Wednesday, although you are welcome to use the facilities as soon as you arrive. We will put a bunch of board games in the bar on Monday and a board you can use for game sign ups. There are already some pre-convention games being organised via the Facebook group and there will be storytelling in the bar on Tuesday night which you are welcome to join in with either to listen or tell.
