ConTingency, Hunstanton 17–21 January 2024
If you fancy a complete gaming binge over several days, in a holiday camp at Hunstanton, by the sea, then ConTingency is for you! Officially, it runs from Wednesday to Sunday but some die-hards start on Monday and binge for a week from 15 January. The lodges are self-catering so it can be very economical but if you prefer to be looked-after there are some excellent hot food cafés and friendly bars.
It's no exaggeration to say that you can play any game under the sun here. There will be everything from core favourites, like D&D and Cthulhu, to proud indies like Blades in the Dark, Dee Sanction and the most obscure and self-written delights. Every day, sign-up sheets go on the noticeboards for new games. Other people prefer to organise their games in advance on Warhorn and if you choose, you can prebook your days of gaming, and secure your seat.
Importantly... last year the event raised over £5,000 for charities.
The venue is Searles holiday village, Hunstanton. There is a great range of holiday lodges, holiday cabins and holiday homes, all fully equipped with modern appliances for everything from home entertainment to home cooking. All the accommodation is centrally heated and double-glazed too, so you can enjoy the convention no matter what the weather. All you need to bring is towels and tea towels. Each unit includes parking for at least two cars. Some of the accommodation welcomes pets and there are a number of lodges with additional features to make them suitable for those with additional access requirements. Take a look at the accommodation, including floor plans etc, here. https://www.searles.co.uk/accommodation But you don't have to stay on site. You can organise your own accommodation or travel in, if you choose.
